About

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” —Rumi

Welcome, I’m Lorna, and I’m glad you’re here. I see clients in California by video.

I offer a compassionate and intelligent presence, and an understanding, non-judgmental space, as you discover your own truth, accept yourself fully, and grow into the whole person you hope to be. I listen closely, try to see the whole situation from your perspective, and then give honest, caring feedback. I’m an advocate for your health and wholeness.

Over the years I’ve worked with children, teens, and adults, including at-risk youth, incarcerated young people, people in 12-step recovery, and men and women facing addiction. What I’ve learned is that we struggle with many of the same things, and that we all need people who see and accept us exactly as we are: trusted confidantes, caring witnesses, wise collaborators, and strong advocates who stay with us through our mistakes and celebrate with us as we learn, grow, and heal. I try to be as many of these as I can for the people I work with.

How I work

My approach is eclectic. It makes room for every part of you, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and cultural, to be present, considered, nurtured, and honored. I draw on a range of methods as needed to help you build greater self-intimacy, break through mental and emotional blocks, and live your life in fullness.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Psychosynthesis
  • Psychodrama

What we can work on

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Self-esteem
  • Trauma and depression
  • Boundaries and trust
  • Growing up in a family affected by alcohol
  • Addiction and 12-step recovery
  • Behavior change

Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me doing Pilates, hiking, gardening, meditating, or watching a foreign film.
