About

“Instead of doing the thing you like to do, choose to do the thing you need to work on. The thing that scares you.” —Robin Arzon. “Make modifications, not excuses.” —Alex Toussaint. “Your mind is your strongest muscle.” —Tunde Oyeneyin.

Hi, I’m Samantha. I see clients by video in California, Washington, Colorado, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Vermont.

My professional passion is building real, authentic relationships with the people I serve, treating each person as the expert on their own story, which I’m honored and curious to hear. We all want to be really seen, heard, and accepted for who we are. When that happens in therapy, people tend to heal and are better able to use the skills they learn.

I’m certified in perinatal mental health. I specialize in mood and anxiety concerns during pregnancy and after birth; the transitions that come with the prenatal and postpartum period, fertility treatment such as IVF, or adoption; traumatic birth experiences; infertility; perinatal grief and loss; and termination for medical reasons.

How I work

Feeling better with a therapist comes down to goodness of fit. I think of myself as a mental fitness instructor: I honor your autonomy and your choices about our path, while asking, “What if you can?” so we can work as a team to build your mental strength and endurance.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic therapy

We may be a good fit if you’re ready to dive into what concerns you most right now, like to be supported and sharpened, are comfortable being pushed sometimes, and value transparency and respect for your choices.

  • Perinatal grief and loss, including disenfranchised grief
  • Stress and adjustment after major life changes
