Communities We Serve · Chinese & Asian American
Therapy for Chinese and Asian American communities, without translating yourself.
Family loyalty, high expectations, quiet sacrifices, and feelings that are sometimes easier to say in Chinese than in English. Our clinicians understand these experiences, and many of them speak Mandarin or Cantonese, so you can be fully yourself in the room.
For many families, asking for help still feels unfamiliar, even like a sign of weakness. It isn't. Therapy is a private, respectful space to sort through what you're carrying, at your own pace.
What Chinese and Asian American clients often bring to us
These are some of the things people most often bring to us. If what you're carrying isn't listed here, you're just as welcome.
Family expectations
Pressure to succeed, to choose the right career or partner, to make every sacrifice worthwhile. We help you honor your family and still make room for yourself.
Between two cultures
Feeling too Chinese in one place and too American in another. We help you build an identity that holds both.
Talking with parents
Love shown through actions more than words, and conversations that end in silence. We help families understand each other across generations.
Stigma around mental health
Worry about losing face, or being told to simply endure. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and what you share stays private.
Racism and discrimination
Hurtful comments, anti-Asian hate, or being overlooked at work. We give these experiences the care and seriousness they deserve.
Caring for family far away
Aging parents across an ocean, long-distance worry and quiet guilt. We help you carry the weight of caring from afar.
How we can help
In the language you think in
Sessions in Mandarin, Cantonese or English, or a mix of them: whatever lets you say what you really mean.
Mandarin-speaking cliniciansCulture is part of the conversation
Your clinician will understand family roles, filial duty and immigration stories without needing everything explained, and will never ask you to choose one culture over the other.
Families across generations
When it helps, parents and adult children can meet together, with your clinician helping each side truly hear the other, in both languages.

Questions our clients often ask
Something else on your mind? Our FAQ covers much more, and our intake team is always happy to talk it through.
Can I have therapy in Mandarin or Cantonese?
Yes. Many of our clinicians speak Mandarin, and some speak Cantonese. You can also mix languages in a session, using whichever words feel closest to what you mean. On Our Team you can filter clinicians by language.
Will my family find out I'm in therapy?
No. What you share is confidential, and we don't contact your family. The rare exceptions involve serious safety concerns, and your clinician will explain them at your first session. If you're on a parent's insurance plan, the policyholder may receive statements, so ask us about your options.
My parents don't believe in therapy. Can I still start?
Yes. Adults can start therapy on their own, and many people do. Some later invite their parents to a session; others never do. Either is okay.
Is therapy only for serious problems?
Not at all. Many people come for stress, family tension, a big decision or simply to understand themselves better. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to deserve support.
Can I have sessions online from another state?
Yes. Our clinicians are licensed across 15 states and offer secure online sessions. You'll need to be in a state where your clinician is licensed at the time of each session.
