Communities We Serve · LGBTQ+
LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, for exactly who you are.
You deserve a therapist you don't have to educate or brace yourself around. Whether you're exploring your identity, building relationships or carrying the weight of other people's expectations, our clinicians offer care that is affirming, respectful and private.
We also understand the particular path of LGBTQ+ people from Asian and immigrant families, where love, culture and coming out can pull in different directions. You can talk about all of it here, in English, Mandarin or Cantonese.
What LGBTQ+ clients often bring to us
These are some of the things people most often bring to us. If what you're carrying isn't listed here, you're just as welcome.
Coming out
Deciding whether, when and how to tell the people in your life. We help you move at your own pace and prepare for different reactions.
Identity and self-discovery
Questions about sexuality or gender, at any age. Therapy is a safe place to explore without pressure or labels.
Family and culture
Parents who hope for a wedding and grandchildren, or who see your identity as a phase. We help you hold your truth and your family's love at the same time.
Relationships and dating
Building healthy relationships and chosen family, and finding love in a world that doesn't always make space for it.
Stress and discrimination
The quiet exhaustion of hiding, the sting of rejection, the worry about being safe. We take these pressures seriously.
Anxiety, depression and more
Your identity isn't the problem, but life can still be hard. We help with anything you might bring, from anxiety to grief.
How we can help
Affirming from the first conversation
Your clinician will use your name and pronouns, follow your lead and never ask you to justify who you are.
LGBTQ+ affirming cliniciansAcross cultures and languages
For LGBTQ+ people from Chinese and other Asian families: clinicians who understand both worlds and can talk with you in Mandarin, Cantonese or English.

Questions LGBTQ+ clients often ask
Something else on your mind? Our FAQ covers much more, and our intake team is always happy to talk it through.
Are your clinicians LGBTQ+ affirming?
Yes. Respectful, affirming care is part of how we work. On Our Team you can also find clinicians who focus specifically on LGBTQ+ concerns.
Can you help me come out to my Chinese or immigrant parents?
Yes. Your clinician can help you think through timing, words and possible reactions, practice the conversation and support you afterward. When you're ready, family sessions can help too, in your parents' language as well as yours.
I'm questioning and not sure about labels. Is therapy for me?
Absolutely. You don't need answers or a label to start. Therapy is a space to explore at your own pace.
Is what I share kept private?
Yes. Your sexual orientation and gender identity, like everything you share, are confidential. We won't share them with anyone without your permission, except in the rare safety situations your clinician will explain at the start.
Do you offer couples therapy for same-sex couples?
Yes. Our couples therapy is for every kind of couple, whether you're dating, married, raising children or going through a hard time.
